"Beaver leads early,
but is relegated to 3rd Place"

Parker, AZ - Coming off of a victory at the SCORE Henderson Terrible’s 250 in July, Jim Beaver and Team PMC Racing headed to the Best in the Desert Tonopah 300 to etch their names in the desert racing record books. Jim Beaver, off road racing’s rising star, went in to the 300 mile event trying to become one of only a handful of drivers to ever win two major desert racing events in a months time.

After leading for the first 55 miles of the event, a malfunctioning carburetor dropped the team to 2nd place. Still only one minute down to the leader after fighting being severely down on horsepower, the ring and pinion let go on the Ford F-150 truck right before the halfway point of the race. The PMC Racing team went to work on the truck, getting it back on the road, still in 3rd place, where they would eventually finish.

"With the problems we experienced I am very happy with a third place finish," explained Jim. "My crew got me on the road very fast after the rear end went out. It was just that we had to limp the truck so far to the next pit to get fixed. Other than that, my Goodyear Wranglers worked awesome all day, and the King Shocks didn’t miss a beat."

The Tonopah 300 will mark PMC Racing’s final race of the 2002 season. A season in which Jim Beaver finished every mile of every race he entered. PMC Racing and Jim Beaver will be taking the rest of the season off in preparation for the launch of the #15 Ford Lightning Trophy Truck, and a brand new motorsports program set to debut in 2003.

As Jim Beaver sets out to contend with off road’s heavyweights in 2003, PMC Racing would like thank all their current sponsors: Goodyear Tires, Tube Service, RiverInfo.com, King Shocks, RLH Communications, MSD Ignition, Parker Motor Co., Penn Sign, and AutoZone.
