"Jim Beaver Makes Off-Road History"

Parker, AZ - Heading in to this past weekends Best in the Desert Parker 425, Jim Beaver already had two feats to his credit. In 2003 he became the youngest driver ever to pilot a Best in the Desert Trick Truck, and in 2003 he also became only the second youngest American to ever compete in the SCORE Trophy Truck Series, next to only NASCAR's Jimmie Johnson. Looking to add another bullet to his resume, Beaver headed into Thursday's qualifying determined to put his PMC Racing/Goodyear/Ford into one of the sought after top 20 spots. After his 5 mile qualifying attempt he had succeeded and in a time of 5 min. 11 sec. he was also the youngest driver to make the top 20.

"We were really determined to make the top 20," stated Beaver. "The teams who can put their trucks into the top 20 have such an advantage by starting so far ahead of the rest of the teams. We knew if we were going to do well on Saturday we needed that advantage."

That advantage paid off for the young rising star of off-road racing. After the first lap, Beaver had moved from 19th overall up to 11th overall in the first 135 miles. Lap two brought some misfortune and mechanical problems, but after a flawless 3rd lap, Jim Beaver brought his PMC Racing/Goodyear/Ford across the finish line in second place in the premier Trick Truck division. This finish made off-road history, as Jim Beaver became the youngest driver ever to take a podium finish in the Trick Truck division.

"The finish was great considering the mechanical problems we experienced on lap 2," explained Beaver. "This race proved that even with an older truck we are very competitive, and when my new 800 horsepower 2004 Ford F-150 arrives, we will be a major threat in both the Best in the Desert and SCORE Series."

PMC Racing and Jim Beaver enjoy partnerships with Goodyear Tires, Ford Trucks, MSD Ignition, King Shocks, Tube Service Company, RLH Communications, RIVERINFO.com, Sparco USA, Motorcraft/Parts Mart, Parker Motor Company, and Penn Sign Company.
